The PPV numbers for Benavidez/Andrade are buried next to Jimmy Hoffa. But being relegated to the undercard says it all, regardless. I’m sorry, Co-Main lol. An uninspiring opponent, finger pointing, excuses, clout chasing. Rinse, Repeat smh.
When the deal was announced with Amazon it was supposed to be 10-14 events per year with some ppv. Dan also told us PBC was looking for a secondary supplemental deal. As of now they do not have the secondary supplemental deal and everything that's been scheduled with Amazon has been ppv. There is weird tribal stuff that goes on with boxing fans and promoters. I want everyone to thrive and do well. With that said, PBC since day one has been over promise under deliver. I can't imagine their talent and any free agents can see what they're producing and be happy.
I want to see the fight as much as anyone. Don’t care who broadcasts or promotes it. But that Tribalism definitely extends to Boxers like Benavidez. Who’s on record that’ll he’ll only fight Canelo if it’s on PBC. Like HE’S the A Side lol. BTW, if Benavidez actually had some ambition and kept his nose clean. He could’ve been a legitimate moneymaker star, without ever having fought Cinnamon. His team dragged their feet for years. When it came to Caleb Plant or any other Unifications. And now it’s one “Who Cares?” opponent after another. While he hides behind a “potential” Canelo fight.
He’s only 27, arguably not even in his prime yet. Floyd didn’t have his first ppv until he was 27. I’m not saying hes going to be Floyd (no one will), but there’s still time for him to be a star and I think he will be. Also, Gvozdik is a good opponent, he’s not taking a soft touch at the new weight class. Hes a former champ who was ahead on the cards before getting KOd by beterbiev.
You're excited about Gvozdyk. And that's great. But you ever notice how much Benavidez's opponents have to be sold to us? Even Plant wasn't exactly some undefeated champion. Where are the in their prime dangerous opponents? Nah, we're looking at Tank Davis 2.0
We all wanna see the Canelo fight but I’m not getting my hopes up. Benevidez would be a considerable favorite over any non-champion at 168/175 except maybe morrel. Gvozdik is prob the #3 LHW, at least it’s a somewhat dangerous fight. Plus he’ll apparently be facing beterbiev/bivol winner. Hes def not as bad as tank with the careful matchmaking lol
