Hopefully the courts give a punishment more fitting for a drug cheat than the laughable non punishment of a one year ban that the NY State Athletic Board gave Garcia. The message is loud and clear if your large money earning star you won't be punished but if your a boxer with no large promoter behind you who works but is still chasing the dream then you'll get a 4 year ban for some casual recreational drug use. Case in example Jai Opetaia's opponent Jack Massey got a 4 year ban for faint traces of a recreational drug. I could support that if it had been a PED but it was likely a little bit of cannabis then you see a Garcia who failed twice and clearly was taking drugs that would help him in his fight versus Haney. Its frankly a disgrace.
You do realize that anything more than 2 years would be one of the longest bans ever? And this would be for a trace amount of a drug found in supplements? And having to give all that money (to who?) would make this the most severe punishment in the history of boxing?
Your okay about a clean fighter fighting an opponent who has taken performing enhancing drugs and failed his drug tests twice over. Either we have a clean sport or we turn a blind eye to drug cheating. Its bad enough that Athletics Boards give non punishments when its a large earning star and throw the book at a fighter who trains after finishing work because they are chasing the dream only to get a 4 year ban for taking say a bit of cannabis which if anything takes away from your boxing performance only to see a multi millionaire like Garcia whose fighting on PEDS get a 1 year ban when lets face it, he was probably not gonna fight for a year anyway. So its a total non punishment. I don't even like Haney but i hate cheats more.
First, Garcia has been punished. The W was taken away, he is banned for a year, and he lost well over $1 million.
Second, we all know the trace of Ostarine found in Garcia’s test was not the reason Haney got slaughtered. Garcia’s tests leading up to the fight were clean and the day of test and day after came back with the trace. Andre Ward, who knows more about this than me, you, and any boxing reporter, said he thinks Garcia took something week of to cut weight, which wouldn’t give a “performance enhancement” effect since rapid weight loss weakens the body.
Was it stupid to take it? Yes.
Should he be held accountable? Yes, and he has.
Should he be sued for battery? Only Haney’s daddy and the predatory lawyers around Haney think so.
The common dose for Ostarine for a man is between 10 and 30 milligrams.
Garcia had 6 nanograms and one nanogram is 1,000th of a milligram.
It’s a miniscule - trace - amount nowhere close to the low end of a single dose and it had absolutely no effect on the fight. Nobody’s arguing Garcia should have had it in him - a banned substance is a banned substance. But I, and many others, see that it’s silly to conclude this is what made the difference.
A jury will decide that not you or me. You think a years measly one year ban is a punishment when he often takes a year off between fights as do most modern fighters so that's no punishment at all. Garcia not only missed weight by a huge 3lbs which is loads when you realize Haney went thru hell to make weight, Garcia gave it a pass and failed 2 test for something Amir Khan got a 2 year ban for. I don't like cheats whether its done by a guy who might have won regardless but who clearly lacked the confidence to enter the ring clean and on weight.
This will never get as far as the jury process. And if it does, Haney will have to prove the Ostarine was a difference maker, which he won’t be able to do. His lawyers are soaking him for fees to file a frivolous lawsuit.
What else do you want them to do to Garcia? He lost the W, paid lots of money, and can’t box for a year. What would make this right for you?
A sizeable ban so he's deterred from doing it again and acts as an example for others, he's still made millions after the fine and made 12 million dollars of a 2 million bet.

I don’t think Haney is going to recover from the Garcia fight instead of moving on and get his career back on track he is sueing
The judge who ruled the fight 112-112 needs to be sued and Haney needs to stop crying. Kid has some of the worst management.
What would be “sizeable” to you?

Me, I’m on Tim Bradley’s side. Haney is “charmin soft” for suing and has received way more than he should for getting his ass whooped. https://x.com/dantheboxingman/status/1841339557742248200?s=46

It wasn't a trace. In NY it is not allowed AT ALL. In some places where minute amounts are allowed it between 40 and 60 times more than allowable.
