What a terrific tribute! The first thing I purchased when I began to live away from my parents in 1999 was a Foreman Grill. The man could sell sand at the beach if he wanted.

Ahh Big George. What a loss. The heavyweight champion of the world in two different timelines. He was such an amazing character, a preposterous and always interesting boxing commentator, and a man who reinvented himself, more than once.

I remember him talking about the fight in Zaire and how Ali kept talking to him saying “that all you got?, that all you got?” He flashed that big ole country boy smile and said” Yup”

His devastation of Joe Frazier made it seem like Ali, or anyone, stood a zero chance against him. He had the kind of monster mystique about him then. Sullen and angry and brutal.

His victory over Moorer was the culmination of one of the most epic campaigns in all of sports. The man would not be denied. Rest in Peace George, and thanks for the memories.
