Heavyweight superstar Anthony Joshua, fighting as well as he has in a few years, dominated and stopped Otto Wallin, whose corner called off the bout with him on the stool after the fifth round to keep him from taking more punishment.
Joshua reveled in the victory in the main event of the “Day of Reckoning” DAZN PPV mega card on Saturday at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, but it came at a cost.
In the co-feature, fellow former world titlist Deontay Wilder barely threw any punches, landed nothing of consequence and suffered a near-shutout decision loss to former titleholder Joseph Parker, which wrecked plans for a long-awaited showdown between former two-time unified titlist Joshua and Wilder on March 9, also in Riyadh.
All deal points had been agreed to after both teams arrived in Riyadh and then the contracts were signed. Plans were for the mega fight to be announced after Joshua’s victory.
