The few articles that I read of his. Were on the old Maxboxing website. And they were very memorable for their intelligent saltiness. My spirit animal lol. Rest in Peace Mister Katz.

I started reading Katz in the 90s I thought then and I still do that he was the best boxing writer I have read

Completely agree, Greg. I also loved Pat Putnam’s writing in the old Sports Illustrated.

I’ve said this multiple times on Twitter. If you want a great example of what boxing writing can be, check out Katz’s review of Winky Wright’s win over Trinidad. The article enhanced my experience of the fight and Wright’s performance.

Great eulogy for a true boxing character. Even as a west coast guy, I knew who Michael Katz was and enjoyed his work where I could find it. He left his mark, which is kinda all any of us can hope for in our work. RIP

I never heard of Putnam mark but he must of been good if you compare him to katz
