After watching the fight I had Martin winning by 3 points. Questioning myself, I watched it again without sound .....and it was the same. Lopez continually missed .....CompuBox was totally inaccurate in its assessment. Matin was a defensive wizard which he received no credit for. Lopez could not land anything of significance. Martin was very successful as a counterpuncher , not Lopez. Although it wasn’t pretty the real winner was Martin easily. Politics stole this one$$! Regis Prograis is a superb fighter and may end up retiring Lopez. I see Prograis outboxing and outfighting Lopez with a potential stoppage. It should be entertaining but it won’t be close.
I agree - I thought Martin won, he totally out-boxed Lopez. I think Lopez touched down after a Martin counter in round 7 as well as round 2, but the ref didn't call it, so Lopez was very lucky there - however I'm sure at least two of the judges would have found some points from somewhere to still let him win.
Speaking of which - Max DeLuca's scorecard of 96 - 93 to Lopez was bad enough but Pasquale Procopio’s 97 - 92 to Lopez was a disgrace.
In your eyes he might be but in the fight he was giving good instructions which Teo couldn’t follow due to Martin’s higher skill level. The Dad knows his son got a gift. He did not think his son won. It’ll be interesting what the Dad has to say. Teo MIGHT have a small chance against Josh.....but would get beat bad by Regis ....to a point of the referee stopping the fight. Too much skill and “dog” in Regis.
I think you have to give credit to Martin. He showed his upset of Mikey Garcia was no fluke. He showed great footwork, counterpunching ability, and was hard to hit. I think he’s an awkward and tough matchup for anyone at 140. Lopez got frustrated by his inability to get his combinations going. Martin kept changing angles and at times flustered Lopez. Lopez has all the tools, he will be a legit champ at 140. But you know you’ve met up with another good fighter when you begin to question yourself and your ability after a fight like that. fights like that can be tombstones or stepping stones for a fighter. I hope for Lopez it’s the latter.
The ineptitude and arrogance of the father/son combination is blowing up a career that once was promising and exciting and now is just annoying. What they say, how they game plan ( if you can call it that; never any adjustments), the lack of accountability… without a corner change Teo is done, and, frankly, I’d be pleased to watch him get worked over if he continues on this path.
Kinda frustrating to watch, but Martin fought an excellent fight and Lopez fought a one dimensional fight. I had it for Lopez, but just.
Lopez needs another dimension to his game.

Martin is an incredible boxer. Top Rank is happy.....trust me. They know who won.
