I’m going to Vegas that weekend. My first time back in Vegas since Cinco de Mayo weekend 2005. That was memorable. I’m super excited for the Boxing Convention that same Saturday (midday). I’m (hopefully) finally going to get to meet Thomas Hearns, Barrera, Morales, and whomever else is scheduled. And I really do want to go the Canelo/Crawford card. But cavernous Allegiant (no overhead scoreboard either) and the outlandish ticket prices are giving me pause. There’s a Monday night football game that same weekend. And those tickets prices are only a quarter to half of the same seats for the fight. Make it make sense.

I’m not looking to justify pricing but how can you compare a regular season game to a mega fight in terms of ticket price? Come on.

If it was in a basketball size arena, I wouldn't. When Canelo fought in Cowboys Stadium, the tickets were much more affordable. BTW, there's entire swaths of unsold tickets. And that's with the typical TKO attempts to manipulate the market. Only listing a few tickets at a time so as to try and create artificial demand. They control tickets on the both the DTC and resale markets. They're shady af. And this isn't the Mega Fight folks are saying. Outside of the Boxing Bubble, most folks don't even know who Bud is. BTW, they also do the same manipulation with WWE tickets. I'm trying to buy tickets for San Jose. Not all seats are available for purchase. There's an entire section of "Resale". Top Rank, GBP, and Matchroom don't do this stuff. And I've bought tickets to all three, multiple times. They also don't gouge the fans.

Every major fight is like that. Not saying it’s right but it’s been like that as long as I’ve been covering boxing and longer.

You're correct about TKO ticket bullshit. Check tickets day of if you're all ready in the city. Its common practice with ufc fans to grab tickets the morning of the event after ufc/tko slashes prices.

Thank You Nathan. I’ve been checking every day. Because TKO will also randomly sneak in some lower priced tickets. Just to take gauge.

UFC/WWE are getting terrible since TKO. You have to subscribe to ufc fight club ($99 year) to get access to presale for events. Boxing has a shit ton of problems but if anyone thinks zuffa boxing is gonna fix it and not make it worse I got a bag of magic beans to sell ya. I hope you find tix and have a good time. Last time I was there was benavidez and plant. I chose not to drop the money on tix. I'm back next march so fingers crossed something good gets scheduled.

Has there ever been an interview of TR matchmaker Bruce Trampler by you and if so where can I find it, if not what a coup it would be to secure one going back to what I believe to be his start in Orlando in the 70’s up until today. What this guy doesn’t know about the sport could be written on the wing of a fly…it’d be great to probe his mind. 🥊🥊🥊

I still respect McNeely for his “cocoon of horror” line….
