Why do I not hear the PBC not being apart of the robbery

While I’m glad Fox is gonna get a rematch imo rematches because of lousy judging simply provide the sanctioning body with more money and are not about providing justice to the wronged fighter.

If it was about giving justice to the wronged fighter each sanctioning body would have a process that could possibly overturn decisions due to poor judging - all of them have resisted doing this because they can fob off fighters and fans by ordering a rematch that provides them with even more revenue and of course avoids the need for them to sort out the problem with the offending judge(s) responsible for the poor decision.

So what is your take on the ABC and what they had to say about the fight ? Think they have power to push WBA or do anything. Just wondering..........

The ABC have threatened the WBA with action as detailed on the boxingscene.com

https://www.boxingscene.com/amp/association-boxing-commissions-addresses-numerous-concerns-with-wba--159812

however their intervention will seemingly do nothing for Mykal Fox as the WBA have already ordered a rematch and have made various denials about the connection between Maestre's team and the WBA.

Of course they've mentioned nothing about the WBA having a process to allow a decision to be overturned.

I'll believe the ABC will actually go through with their threat when it actually happens. After all they've allowed many, many bad judging decisions over the years to take place without any comment, no matter which sanctioning body is involved, and in addition boxing fans and media have been complaining about the WBA having far too many belts within each division for years and the ABC have ignored them until now (why?).

I may be old and cynical but the fact that the letter from the ABC to the WBA has been made public so quickly may mean the letter is more about appeasing the outraged boxing media than actually wanting to put pressure on Mendoza.

Thanks Ozz I had to ask, I have been watching boxing for a long time and I really knew nothing about ABC but I sorta felt that if there was anyone with any power and knowledge of the game we or me would have heard about it from long ago. Thanks tho for the kick back. Yea it is a sad situation and yet I hope the judges or the ref dont mess up this weekends cards they seem to take turns doing that.

Hi John, you may have read today about the WBA actually stripping Maestre of the "title" and they've also asked for the Minnesota commission to rule the fight a no contest.

So, surprisingly, the ABC's intervention seems to have had some effect, I'm not aware of this happening ever before. Of course I would have preferred the win to have been given to Fox rather than a no contest (if the commission agrees) but I suppose that was too much to hope for.

I still don't understand why the ABC have intervened in this case and not said anything after the many bad decisions we've seen over the years.

I also notice that judge Gloria Rizzo is being suspended by the WBA for her past racist tweets - they make no reference to her appalling scorecard last Saturday and the other two judges haven't been mentioned at all.

It's an awful messy business and, as you say, let's just hope this weekend's fights are refereed and judged competently and fairly.

Yes Ozz it was good to see some type of action on that fight. I hope it is a start of something it shows that the fans still have influence on the action in the fight game, as we should we support boxing by paying for the fights, reading the articles, talking about it, that is no small thing its called support. Why the dismissal of G.R. on racist comments devoid of her card I suppose it may have been the fastest way to rid her of being a judge and being in the public eye. I guess it will be quiet for a few weeks as they go for the PPV dollars. No collusion there right ?
