Whatever Manny does after this fight he earned it in the ring no doubt. Is that enough to buy the PPV ? Not really yet I can understand why people will do just that, the Pac-Man has a loyal following that he got inside the ring not outside the ropes. It would be nice to see Manny sitting in the White House one day talking to the president of the U.S.A. got to love that picture if it happens.
Hope Saul wins his fight with Plant does numbers that take him away from Eddie and DAZN for good. It would be better that way, Saul got all the tune up fights post-pandemic and Eddie got his numbers and excuses for no fights on the callender bc "until Saul decides to fight......" for that reason I hope he gets his PPV numbers and moves on force Eddie to find another fighter or two to sell to his subs.
Some good fights coming up. Thankfully Pacquiao's end has come, hopefully he's leaving boxing with his health still intact. Now we just need Fury to get past Wilder asap and then onto Joshua.
I've never been able to make sense of the Dazn business model after they threw around so much money at the beginning. I imagine their balance sheet is interesting!
They received a lot of stick from the 'old establishment' [inevitably] however surely Arum et al couldn't have dreamed it would have transpired the way it has. For all the bluster and 'game changed' rhetoric, their Matchroom US schedule this year has been way below par. Unfortunately nobody who's in a position to be able to is prepared to ask Hearn/Markowski the questions us fans would like answers to. I get this - people have bills to pay. But nonetheless its a shame.
You are correct on the schedule and what you brought up. It sounds juvinile to say but we the fans could do so much more then complain. If we started to boycott fights and fight cards changes would happen. I know I know they say it would never happen but just a few times and they would start to listen. Money is there master and that makes the fan the driver of the sport. Instead we get caught up in the way cards are filled out, the match ups we do not get etc.....Pandemic just made the promoters and platforms more greedy and less interested in what the fan has to say about the sport, our sport they may own the airwaves but they dont own the fan. They follow the numbers start with turning your TV off right before certain bouts just as a warning then go deep............ in there pockets. Think about it ?
I think what most savvy people will do is unsubscribe and then only opt back in when there's a decent card. So in effect they've created a PPV model, but without the high revenues of traditional PPV. This isn't how they marketed the service and hence the business model [looking from the outside in] is difficult to understand.
Can only imagine Joshua's team have looked very closely at the way Alvarez's team have gone about their business to determine if it's the right approach for them.
Again: These are the type of elementary questions I don't see anyone asking Hearn. And he must average at least 6 interviews per week throughout the year!
Yes six interviews a week that he chooses who will interview him and what questions. Guys like AK and Boxing Bully are just on the payroll. The rest are hoping to get a job working for him so they will not ask a real question then you have those writers who want interviews or so called breaking news so they are shills also. Lot of boxing writers have said they would be shut out if they asked the wrong questions to any promoter or person in the fight game. Plus human nature you get close to someone and you decide to not hurt the relationship it happens in all sport. Not like the old days where the influencers were ugly but the fights were great. Joshua will walk away in time if he ever gets real serious about making a move in the Heavyweight division. He would have to forget about Eddies cover and fight for the respect not have a mouthpiece doing it for him.
