A great couple of fights nearly ruined by the distractingly bad commentary of Jesse Vargas. That guy shouldn't be anywhere near a live mic during a fight. I don't find him particularly insightful, and he's definitely not articulate, but worse is he has no sense of when to shut up, and just blathers away saying nothing. I muted a few times, but the crowd's energy is important to a good fight, so I had to suffer through the torment. Hoping someone at DAZN reads this, or that Dan will throw some influence and protect us from that crap : )

Any word on Nontshinga's health? Cory mentioned he was taken to the hospital after the fight, but we never got an update (or at least not one I could hear through Vargas' massacring my ears). It was the kind of punishing fight that had Nontshinga's legs wobbly afterwards... hoping for the best.

Estrada generally fights down to the level of opposition, so I'm not overreacting to how vulnerable he looked, but it does further cement my opinion that Chocolotito will take a distance win in December; Estrada took a lot of punishment, and at his age and with nearly 50 fights, he needed an easy dust-off performance and didn't get one.

I support boxing promoters and networks doing whatever is necessary to keep Jessie Vargas’s dumb ass busy and way the fuck away from politics. But seriously, they could’ve put Claudia Trejos in the analyst’s chair. She’s awesome.

Sounds like the commentary gets to you on DAZN the way the guys on ESPN annoy me

I can pick apart any announcing teams, and growing up with Tompkins & Bernstein on ESPN and Jim, Larry +1 on HBO the bar was high and I have to lower it to not get agitated while watching fights. The normal DAZN crew is fine, but Jesse Vargas has no reason to have access to a microphone, and anyone that gives him access to calling fight cards hates the sport and it’s fans.

Self promotion in itself can ruin an announcing teams effort if the team is even putting any effort into the broadcast. ESPN talks over a fight while kissing each others asses in the process, it feels fake and manufactured but worst still is how they talk over the fight and are so busy playing up the next fight or looking way into the future of some dream match up they loose the moment of the fight. And those extra long cut away to commercials, or locker rooms during a fight are descrutive to a boxing match. And double boxes are a joke also, just don't be so cheap and let us see the reruns after the rounds and let us hear what is being said "in real time" not after commercials that bleed into the next round. Yea it aint personal but man do I hate those clowns and a few others also................

Those you mention are difficult acts to follow. Dazn haven't helped themselves with their selection/use of broadcast teams. They brought in one of the best in the business [imo] - Mike Costello - yet hardly use him. Odd...

Was an excellent fight card to my eye's the first fight was tight, the second fight even tighter and the third fight was a bit of a surprise although I had a feeling it might turn out dif then what was being told about it just a tune up fight. That kid Cortez made a name for himself and Estrada did enough but just had to be impressed with Cortez hope they match him up right in his next fight I got a few ideas but will wait and see......Nice to have a decent card on Saturday Night hope people got to see the card, and if you didnt think it was worth it see how you feel after spending what about $90 for a fight that should be on Fox or something on other at most a PPV App anyhow got my tank filled with the fights last night, so not going to go negitive at this point.....
