Surely no one regards Wilder vs Helenius as a competitive fight - it certainly shouldn't be PPV.

With respect to Helenius, I think he is the perfect comeback opponent for Wilder simply because he's about as mobile as one of those BOB freestanding punch bags and so Wilder won't have to expend much energy to get at him.

It seems just about guaranteed that Helenius will finish the fight flat out on the canvas. Should a competitive fight actually break out - I'll regard that as an indication that Wilder is on his way out rather than Helenius raising his level.

How do you say “Dosser” in Finnish?

Helenius/Wilder and Dirrell/Plant aren’t awful fights. I also understand the financial obligations that are involved. But why is any sane Boxing Fan expected to pay $75 for a pair of Glorified Tune-Up Fights? I guess all of these PBC guys must get their annual Tune Up bout. It gets sold to the public as leading to bigger and better things. Soon lol. Danny Garcia got his easy money Tune Up a few months ago. Is he gonna fight again in 2022? Or maybe Garcia has something significant lined up in early 2023? Nope and Nope. Both of the Charlos and Spence combined, will only have fought twice in 2022. How??? BTW, flooding the Boxing Market with Comp and Discounted Tickets isn’t good for the long term health of the sport either.

well said across the board. I'll add that PBC has become the home of placing fighter tune-ups on PPV, a truly revolutionary idea (if you're in to the kind of revolutions that just ruin shit).

Any word on the undercard for 11/26? Is Marvnation gonna have a nickel left over for the undercard? Seems unlikely we get anything of note there given the cost of the main event and the lack of a promotional stable. Also curious how they price the PPV, as I want to see the Prograis-Zepeda fight, but given the scratch Marv needs to get back, feels like they might price this one high. Hope not!

I've heard some things that are possible but nothing concrete to report yet but what I have heard they are attempting is pretty solid.

you've given me hope!

Yep - $2.4M on the main event suggests the undercard will be a couple of amateur fights or women's bouts or possibly live from a pub car park.

how in the world does PBC get away with paying Filipino fighter Eumir Marcial only $800 for his fight last weekend? Is this like the boxing version of cruiseships hiring local deckhands when they're in SE Asia and paying them 2 bags of potato chips per week? I have to imagine Marcial would command more were he fighting out of the West?
