Thanks for listing purses D$ helps understand why a fighter like Kovalev still in the ring, and makes one appreciate the efforts of Castano goin to war with 'Mell for half the purse. 🥊

and that Zurdo a cool million bucks (literally 40 times what Alvarado made for his incredible effort on the undercard!) is something. How GBP gets their money back from that event is beyond me...

Golden Boy don't put up the money - Dazn do. Another example of them overpaying. Great as he is, being on the same money as Charlo [or twice Castano] were [officially] paid for an Undisputed fight is a nonsense.

They should show purses for UK shows too!

Nice to see JMM shouted one. One of the ballsiest, entertaining greats. Too many must-watch fights to list.

Looking good for the world welterweight championship to be filled having been vacant since Floyd Mayweather retired. The WBA will still have two titleholders in that division so they will obviously dispute the “undisputed” billing of the fight. Interesting to speculate about why the WBA sought to strip Taylor so quickly having previously agreed to a rotation with the other (corrupt) sanctioning bodies. How many kickbacks did they receive from the “representatives of the top six boxers” being consulted about filling the vacancy?

Agreed - as much as I dislike how Taylor has conducted himself since the Jack Catterall fight, I find it amazing that the WBA can strip Taylor so quickly.

Taylor defended against WBO mandatory Jack Catterall at the end of February and so the WBA have been very quick to call their mandatory and then very quick to strip Taylor.

Compare Taylor's treatment with Leo Santa Cruz for example - LSC has remained the WBA featherweight champion without defending it since February 2019! There have been many other examples over the years too of course.

Some may say that this is a sign of the WBA improving their governance of the sport however how can that be the case when they haven't stripped LSC - which is the fighter they would immediately strip if they were cleaning up their act.

IMO it stinks to high heaven - as you say it seems very likely that something dodgy has gone on behind the scenes.

"understanding that the rules must be known by all fighters who fight for a championship or are champions of the sanctioning body,” the WBA said in a statement."

Hey look everybody- the WBA has rules!

And why do they need to convene 6 fighter managers to discuss a vacancy? What's the point of their rankings (shitty as they are) if the top guys don't get to fight for a vacant title? They already ordered the Puello fight, so certainly he figures into a vacant title shot.

only in boxing (and the mob)

I’d be cool with all of the sanctioning bodies banning Muppet costumes from championship fights.

Great that we're seeing unification fights happen and getting undisputed world champions. Lets hope it not only continues but happens as often as possible so be nice to unify welterweight, middleweight and heavyweight titles next.

I think Spence is being honest. But also a vet move putting this out there. In case negotiations break down. Bud hasn’t signed with anyone for a reason. No one has been able to justify matching his financial demands. Crawford may only be fighting in court this year (with Top Rank) lol. Hopefully I’m wrong.
