Not for nothing, but the Mexican National Anthem is bat shit crazy complicated. It’s a whole musical journey! The young lady who sung it at Canelo Saunders did it well.

And I also believe Riberto Duran to be the best ever. IMHO.

I have a hard time with that because of his no mas fight with Ray Leonard. His first fight with Leonard was amazing though. Him sneering as he walks back to his corner.

Leonard admitted to wanting to sign the second fight right away when he heard Duran ballooned up to 200 lbs. He did not want to get an in shape Duran for second fight. But that first ss you said was great

To this day, I believe Lucia Rijker to be the best female boxer ever.

May be so, but Ann Wolfe is the one I’d least like to get in the wrong side of.

I have been following Mr. Rafael since his early writings on ESPN. By far The best ever. I have a question, I have always believed IMO that the Meldrick Taylor fight with Chavez was an excellent stoppage. Meldrick was heavily pummeled. I always wondered what you thought about it?

I felt it was a good stoppage. Taylor was really hurt, he was out of gas and Chavez was giving him a vicious beating. Richard Steele asked him if he was okay and Taylor didn’t answer, looked of to his right with a far away look in his eyes. I’m sure up close Steele could see the circus lights in his eyes and he stopped the fight. Yes, the red corner lights were lit up, yes, there were maybe 5 seconds left, but Taylor was done. Steele stopped the fight and saved Taylor from any more damage. You might argue that Taylor deserved to be able to finish the fight, but no ones going to argue that Taylor left the ring with what he entered it with. He was never the same after the fight.

Taylor had a broken jaw, he was urinating pure blood. His face was terribly swollen. He was badly beaten to the face, the body, and the brain. The reason he looked to the right was his trainer jumped up on the riing aprin. In boxing if you do that during the round, its automatic disqualification. But Steele stopped it anyway. Taylor lost his prime in one single bout.

Thanks Dan and congrats on the WBN gig!

Glad they moved the Lopez fight. I will need time to clear my mind of the Mayweather-Paul……Fiasco? Farce?

I think I was quick to judge Saunders quitting in his stool. Sounds like he was way more busted up than it appeared.
