There is just fight of note this weekend and we are here to preview it — the heavyweight fight between Derek Chisora and Otto Wallin, who headline the Queensberry card on Saturday. There is also my interview with Keyshawn Davis, who is set to challenge Denys Berinchyk for the WBO lightweight title on Feb. 14. We also covered plenty of news of the week, looked back on the anniversary of a significant fight and celebrated the great Oscar De La Hoya’s birthday.
Here is what’s on the show (in order):
Preview of Chisora-Wallin, which figures to an entertaining scrap between veteran heavyweight contenders.
My interview with Davis ahead of his world title opportunity against Berinchyk and we covered a lot: His big win in a homecoming fight in November and nearly calling it off when opponent Gustavo Lemos was dramatically overweight; landing the world title shot; his thoughts on Berinchyk; extra motivation to fight an undefeated opponent for a title; headlining in New York; the fights he wants if he wins the title; more.
I am in my 26th year of full-time boxing coverage. Take advantage of that experience by upgrading to a paid subscription for full access to all posts and comments — and support independent journalism.
The latest on the craziness related to the possible Canelo Alvarez fight against Jake Paul in the spring and Terence Crawford in September.
Discussion of Ryan Garcia returning to trainer Eddy Reynoso and the disgusting move by the WBA to agree to sanction Garcia-Rolando Romero for the “regular” welterweight title.
Announcement that unified middleweight titlist Janibek Alimkhanuly will defend his belts against Anauel Ngamissengue in a Kazakhstan homecoming bout on April 5.
Memories on the 20th anniversary of when Zab Judah went to Cory Spinks’ hometown of St. Louis and knocked him out in the ninth round to avenge a loss and win the undisputed welterweight title.
An appreciation of Hall of Famer De La Hoya on his 52nd birthday.
Please give it a listen! Also: rate, review, subscribe and enjoy!
