Dan, fantastic interview! This is the kind of stuff you just can’t get elsewhere. Same for the Canelo interview. It was a double feature for me.
Things I learned from Dan‘s Joe Goosen interview:
A) do. NOT interrupt Joe Goossen’s train of thought, however long it may be.
B) By all accounts Ryan Garcia is a standup guy and a straight shooter
C) anyone who thinks Ryan Garcia could’ve gotten up, but chose not to, is uninformed or an idiot
I think had Tank not landed that brilliant shot in the second round Ryan Garcia had a decent chance of winning that fight. He was laying to Tank in the second round, and Tank was definitely feeling the shots and grabbing and hanging on wisely, but I think Garcia just got a little carried away and a little wild and was, well, a little bit 24 years old. The three judges scored that round 10 -9 ×2. And pretty extraordinarily 10-10 even with the knockdown.
When Garcia got knocked down in the seventh he was obviously in crippling pain, but he looked at the referee and at around the count of seven and he nodded and I think he had every intention of getting up and his body just betrayed him. “I’ll take every second I can and pop up at 9 1/2” Nope. Legs not working as expected. I am not saying he would necessarily come back and win the fight. At that point, that punch destroyed him, but I’m 100% convinced he would’ve gotten up if he could have, as well as Joe, Goosen, and Dan, (so I am as smart as them ha ha)
I just wanted to mention also that in Dan’s interview with Ryan Garcia he asked him what he was most afraid of with Tank Davis and Ryan said Tanks, ability to counterpunch off of his front foot, which was pretty much exactly what happen with the knock down, and the knock out.
Great interview but Goossen sounded like he was either drunk or the biggest blow hard on this earth.

Yep - you could see Tank patiently waiting to do exactly that throughout the fight.
After being dropped in the 2nd I think Ryan was too concerned about making up the points deficit and became too wild and open.
I think Ryan couldn’t bare the sight of denim any longer 😊.
Hahahah exactly!
