Podcast: Previews of Foster-Nova and Curiel-Nontshinga rematch

Plus: Taylor-Catterall II set; Canelo-Charlo speculation; more news of the week; anniversaries of two notable fights

There are two notable cards coming up but both are on Friday night instead of the usual Saturday, and we discussed both: O’Shaquie Foster defending the WBC junior lightweight title against Abraham Nova in the Top Rank main event and Adrien Curiel defending the IBF junior flyweight title against Sivenathi Nontshinga in an immediate rematch in the Matchroom Boxing headliner. We also discussed several news items from the week. And in our nostalgia section, we looked back on the anniversary of two notable bouts.

Here is what’s on the show (in order):

• Preview of Foster-Nova: How good is the match, how both arrived in this bout, and a look at the undercard, including junior lightweight Andres Cortes versus Bryan Chevalier in the co-feature and featherweight prospect Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington against Bernard Torres in the opener.

• Preview of Curiel-Nontshinga II: Will it be repeat for Curiel, who drilled Nontshinga to win the title in their first fight, or will it be Nontshinga’s revenge? Plus the return of former WBA featherweight titlist Mauricio Lara in the co-feature.
