Morell probably got the last show on showtime cause hes next for canelo. It gets to showcase him. PBC can spin it as a mandatory and they promote it as mexico vs puerto rico on cinco de mayo. Hopefully in sept benavidez gets his shot.
Got my Tix. But I'm completely shocked at the amount of tickets that were sold. The 80 corridor from San Jose to Reno used to be a historic hot bed for Boxing. But the most recent Top Rank show in Oakland a few years ago, only maybe drew a quarter house in Oracle . Although Devin is a Bay Area native. He'd never fought here once. I think. Hopefully both Devin and Regis put on a show, along with the undercard. It'd be great for Boxing.
Dan, I liked your discussion of Tszyu-Hurtado as a lost classic. I went and rewatched it and agree. Three knockdowns in the first round, one by Tszyu and two by Hurtado! How do you score a round like that? Logically, it should 8-7 for Hurtado, but Tszyu almost had him down again at the end of the round. Should it be a 10-8 round for Hurtado? 10-9 given the way Tszyu dominated the end of the round?
Neither mex or Puerto Rican π
