A note to Fight Freaks Unite readers: I created Fight Freaks Unite in January 2021 and eight months later it also became available for paid subscriptions for additional content — and as a way to help keep this newsletter going and for readers to support independent journalism. It’s another slow weekend with two smaller cards on tap for Saturday. One is a Golden Boy/Zanfer card on DAZN headlined by middleweight Jaime Munguia against Gonzalo Coria in what appears to be a massive mismatch. The other is a Queensberry card on ESPN+ headlined by Liam Davies versus Ionut Baluta for the vacant European junior featherweight title with light heavyweight contender Anthony Yarde taking on Stefani Koykov in the co-feature in what is supposed to be a tune-up for a mandatory title shot against unified champion Artur Beterbiev in January. We previewed those events and there is also my one-on-one interview with Regis Prograis ahead of his upcoming junior welterweight title shot, a discussion of the deal being agreed to for Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia to fight on April 15 and much more!
Here is what’s on the show (in order):
Some good news to begin the show — the improvement of brain-injured Aidos Yerbossynuly, who, according to sources, has been weaned from a medically induced coma, and moved out of intensive care and into a regular hospital room.
Lengthy discussion on everything we know about the deal made for the long-awaited fight between Davis and Garcia to fight on April 15, but if only it was that easy. We touched on numerous aspects of the deal and the things that need to happen before the Showtime PPV is a reality.
My interview with Prograis, who is set to face Jose Zepeda for the vacant WBC junior welterweight title on Nov. 26 in the main event of a pay-per-view card. We discussed his struggle to get another opportunity since losing his world title by close decision to Josh Taylor three years ago, the surprising purse bid results for the fight and a lot more.
A preview of the weak Munguia-Coria fight and my rant on Munguia’s constant low-level fights.
A preview of Davies-Baluta and Yarde’s tune-up for the title fight.
Commemorating this week’s 21st anniversary of Lennox Lewis’ knockout of Hasim Rahman to avenge his loss and regain the heavyweight title as well as some of my memories of covering that fight.

Looks like zanfer is the majority of the problem with Jaime’s career SP far, would you say they are the ones holding him back? They also put on such bad cards.
