The Show & Tell was a reminder of the bum decision Ponce de Leon got against Broner & Canelo being handed his first title gift wrapped with a nice little bow. Hatton's brother came up in weight to fight for a vacant belt. If I remember correctly it was a division he had never campaigned in.

Wow! Never thought of Valdez vs Diaz Jr.. would be a great fight but makes no sense for Valdez at this point. Ramirez Taylor has fight of the year written all over it (on paper)... need your Haney Linares prediction

Dan two questions 1. Will the water pressure reports resume post covid or will they be discontinued permanently? 2. Are you longing for the HBO boxing theme song yet ? I know I am . 😂

Great read. “Paging Deontay Wilder” has me LOL. Ramirez Taylor is going to be the fight of the year. Jaron Ennis is going to beat Crawford and chase Spence up to 154. P4P one day for sure! I love Canelo but he has to start fighting the guys we want to see him fight, not interested in watching him beat up on Billy Joe, no disrespect Billy. Ruiz on PPV..ummmm.. I will watch it on YouTube the next day

Some great random thoughts, particularly about the Ramirez / Taylor fisticuffs...but you're too much of a lone voice, Dan. Your peers and media colleagues should be calling all the other BS for what it most certainly is..and drug testing and bad scoring/judging.

love love love this. will now tune in to Ramirez v. Taylor. Canelo isn't just the best super middle right now, he's the best P4P. He's doing so much in there that doesn't make it's way into the scorecard, but that makes him so tough to beat: feinting, positioning, setting up combinations and on and on. I wish THIS version of Canelo had fought Mayweather. Of course, he's much bigger now. May is what... 42? He could come back for $100M, right? I mean...I know he won't because he can't pick a round, bet on that round and end it in that round, but a fan can dream. As for the all-time matchups: nobody beats Roy at his peak, too fast, too athletic. he frustrates Canelo and takes a decision. Peak Joe Calzaghe loses a close decision to Canelo because he's evenly matched and decides to trade and gets stung. James Toney under-trains, comes in heavy and loses his shot on the scales. Andre Ward loses a decision handily, mostly for having 3 points deducted along the way for low blows and billy-goating. Carl gets KO'd in the 9th because, behind on points, he goes for it and gets flattened.

Dan I respect you but you have a huge blind spot. Your newsletter this afternoon omits any mention of the all female PPV boxing card tonight. I know you mentioned it briefly in your morning newsletter, but the boxing press has to do better. The newsletter I just got should have said more about that card. Come on Dan we have to evolve as a sport, and that means our scribes have to evolve as well.

I wrote an extensive piece for Ring about Claressa. And also included it my newsletter the other day. Relax.

I'll watch women's boxing when the skill matches the commitment. Almost no female boxer I've seen demonstrates pro-level skill. The pros demonstrate the skills of committed amateurs and they're warriors to be sure, but I've only ever seen a handful come close to doing more than what is basically toughperson competition. Even at the championship level, it's too-often an open-wristed slugging and slapping contest. Too little turning over punches, almost no feinting or defense. It's not that I don't think women are capable of boxing skillfully. They surely are. It's just almost none of the athletes I've seen are demonstrating real boxing skill. So I don't tune in. One man's opinion.

Great Stuff! Forget about Canelo. GGG and Kelly Pavlik are the exact same age. If he wouldn’t have been hiding in Europe, we wouldn’t have to use our imaginations. G should’ve fought his real contemporaries like Hopkins, Ward, Pavlik, Jermain Taylor, Froch, Calzaghe, etc. Instead G and his minions are forever pointing fingers, making excuses, and chasing paydays versus the much younger Canelo.
