Never the stage, just the man in front of you

Remembering Chavez vs Taylor, WHO BOTH FOUGHT EACH OTHER IN THEIR PRIMES. What a concept. Great fight, with Taylor taking a very bad beating, and IT WAS, a great and needed stoppage. Grotesquely swollen, fractured jaw, urinating pure blood. Best ref ever had it right. The only witness too the onslaught. HBO commentators boxing ignorance showed up that night. Like the ref, I saw a beating, HBO saw only flash tapping. Taylor lost his prime in one night. Was never the same. But Taylor had the guts to go Prime vs Prime. I honor him too this day. Money May, a wasted joke. Lost his greatness waiting 5 years to fight Pac. Now Spence and Crawfird following the same joke.

Mr. Charlo slept on Mr. Montiel. Perhaps overlooking him? Montiel is one tought kid. I know Mr. Charlo was more humble after the fight. I think Charlo should make his fight with the Boo Boo Andrade while the fight still has some value.

Charlo-Montiel was a welcome surprise! Montiel did not come to lay down. He fought every round knowing Charlo stood between him & glory even though he was outclassed. No holding, no running...truly mano a mano.

Montiel was impressive. Lots of heart and a great chin. He even managed to hit Charlo with some good shots. His corner was a disaster though. When he was warming up prefight, the corner did not seem to have pads. And then during the fight his trainers did not seem to have a bucket and his corner looked flooded with water making the ring dangerous for both fighters.

I thought it was a good thing that his corner was all family & that probably pushed him to dig deeper as the rounds went on. With that being said I agree on all those things. Stage was too big for them.
