Great achievement for Taylor. Close fight. I watched, followed Dan's comments on Twitter and listened to BBC Radio 5 Live commentary, where all 3 guys there had it 6-6, which I agreed with. Knockdowns made all the difference.

Miserable promotion from Top Rank. Miserable press coverage in UK. Bayless cannot be invited to a major fight at any point in the near future - the break between ass on floors and recommencement of action were nothing short of embarrassing.

I've no idea what Taylor's contract looks like, however would be great to see him with dazn. Hearn [like him or not] would give him the promotion he deserves. He's a major attraction, partly because [despite the unbeaten record] he's beatable. But always finds a way.

Hopefully we have some great fights to look forward to.

Great comment. Especially the part about Bayless. Hes done at this level of competition. KB always seem to favour someone in the bouts he is refeereing. Would suck to be on his case in a close fight.

Great fight. Great sportsmanship.

Great substack as ever Dan, and what a great fight. I wonder if we should make Taylor the sixth man to have unified and consider Lopez the fifth as it wasn’t his fault the WBC went all franchise crazy?

Doesn't matter whose fault it is. Haney is the WBC champion.

What a quality fight, this is what happens when you put the best in with the best you get the best of fights for we the fans. Well done Top Rank getting this fight done especially whilst we're still not totally clear of the Covid Lockdown. Taylor is the man at 140lbs, an easy to make defence in Scotland with Catterall and then perhaps Crawford.

Great fight. Bayless must’ve had money on the fight going the distance. Kidding, but man he have Ramirez a lot of time after the first knockdown!

Taylor won wider then the judges had it

I thought those judges cards were way too close - I agreed with Dan’s reading of the fight.

Well done both fighters for a great fight - I’m especially pleased Josh apologised for his pre-fight shenanigans and Jose deserves big credit for accepting his apology.

I thought this fight deserved a much bigger promotion. Now that the covid situation is calming down in the UK I hope Josh will hold Arum to his signing-on promises of fighting in Scotland and that these events are promoted properly.

Taylor is the best UK fighter since Joe Calzaghe and will hopefully go on to be just as much a legend as Ken Buchanan.

Jose put up a great fight and will have learned a lot in this fight - I’m sure he will come back stronger.

Taylor has so few fights on his belt for a 30 year old champion and Olympian from 2012. Is it because he suffers cuts often that it makes him being active difficult or does he have an overprotective team that just won't let him fight more than 1.5 times a year?

Over protective? He's beat everybody there is at 140 in 17 fights!

I'm not belittling his achievements, I'm just wondering why he has 18 fights compared to the 59 fights Canelo has or even the 28 fights the his opponent has. 18 fights at 30 seems kinda low.

Fair enough - he had an outstanding amateur career so started later and was fast tracked
