Fantastic write up, Dan! Crazy watching Valdez lead/play Berchelt in to that left hook.

Some interesting prose from ESPN’s piece on the fight.

“ Oscar Valdez relished in the afterglow of proving a lot of doubters wrong on Saturday night, as his KO victory over Miguel Berchelt was as thorough and as impressive a performance as the new WBC junior lightweight world titlist could have put together.”

I don’t think the guy that used to write for them ever relished in any afterglows. Just sayin’....

It was a solid performance for sure but Dan don’t you think that berchelt looked really out of sorts? I rewatched and fighters always try to walk the razors edge with these weight cuts.....fighting at a comfortable weight division would serve him better I’d say after a beating like that

Beautiful left hook from Valdez. That definitely silenced his detractors !!

The Reynosos must be coaching gods - look at the performances from Canelo, Martinez, Garcia and now Valdez. Nothing at all suspicious of course.

Solid event. Didn't go as I expected. After the 4th Berchelt didn't recover well at all. Valdez had a great night. Was it the weight? He put on more than 10 pounds over night. Mark Kreigel said he ordered 2 Hawain pizzas? Maybe came in too relaxed. Valdez had the eye of the tiger tonight. Gabriel Flores Jr looked promising. I am really impressed with the Top Rank recruitment staff. Lots of young hitters; Berlanga, Shakur, Teofimo, Flores Jr, Valdez. Great coverage on Twitter as well Mr.Rafael. 👌
