Combining Super and regular (= world) titles would of course take time because both "champions" should be given a chance to fight each other, however Mendoza has chosen not to announce this as an aim of the WBA - something I think he would have done if he were serious about ending up with one world champion per division.
Consequently I'm very sceptical about the WBA going any further and actually ending up with one world champion per division - in addition Mendoza has said he's keeping the gold belts.
I hope the ABC will continue to monitor the situation and won't be satisfied with two WBA world champions per division and will keep the pressure on Mendoza.
Hey Dan. Great stack as ever. Do you have any idea on the WBAs or other organizations finances? I.e. do you know if they make money, lose money or are just set up as a lifestyle organization to fund their executives trips etc?
True. Ditching the interim titles isn’t nothing. The elephant in the room (if you view the problem here as being primarily about gaslighting the public, as opposed to, say, fleecing fighters for sanctioning fees) is the Super vs. Regular champion thing, though. For my part, I lump interim titles in with other fake belts like the WBC Diamond or Continental Americas championships. They're relatively easy to just ignore. For whatever reason, I’ve always had a harder time discerning WBA “regular” champions from “super” champions. I don’t see that problem going away anytime soon, especially because I think the WBC’s franchise champion nonsense gives the WBA a bit of cover.
You never could answer the tough questions Dan
I meant 3 percent, but I guess you don't know the answer anyway
Hey Dan, do you know if the WBA returned their fees to the fighters that were given interim titles? If I was a struggling fighter, I want my 3K back!

Not specifically but they make money.
ummm, Happy Birthday
Eubank was never the WBA interim super middleweight champion as stated in that list but was the two time WBA interim middleweight champion
Good catch. I fixed it.
A thousand mile journey begins with a first step,Dan.
I’ll believe it when I see it.
Well, they did terminate 11 interim titles at once, so that's a good start

Fantastic news. All it took was threatening their life's blood. Kudos to ABC
