This is actually a harder fight for Tszyu due to Fundora’s height and southpaw stance. What I like about Tszyu is he’s coming into enemy territory and at the last minute agrees to a much more difficult opponent …..If He wins impressively it will show he’s “old school”. Much admiration to Tszyu. Keep punching.

Of course Thurman is injured

Thurman has fought what 5x in the last 8 years? The fight should've never been booked. And at a catchweight. It was terrible. Atleast this is a true 154 pound fight with 2 active guys, but..... Fundora getting a title fight coming off a KO loss is crap. And of course the WBC sees a ppv main event they want their 3% from.

The WBC are a joke.

I agree keeppunching

Any chance the PPV price will be lowered with the change in the main event?

No. I don’t think so because it’s actually a harder fight “while it lasts”… we will get a better perspective on Tszyu due to all the circumstances involving the arrangement for the fight.

Why is Fundora getting a title shot on the same card at Mendoza, who knocked him out in both guys’ last fight?

Is it because PBC/TGB think Fundora is an attraction? Is there some sponsor backing Fundora? You have to admit, Dan, from a sporting perspective this makes no sense

Because Fundora was the best available replacement in terms of perceived competition and name value in a business of selling PPV and was already on the show, meaning he's in shape and near weight. I think it's a better fight than Thurman. Mendoza is now also added to the card in a prelim vs. Bohachuk but not acceptable to anyone as a Tszyu opponent since Tszyu beat him a few months ago. It's not really very complicated.

Dan, I hear you on Fundora’s name recognition. But…. do you think this card is worth $74.99?

That’s a different discussion.

Great answer. 100% on target. Dan is a great student of the game….. Not many journalists can say that.

Honestly seems like a mistake by PBC. The PPV is going to do minimal business anyway. Even Bohachuk would've been a better replacement than Fundora. You can't give a title shot to a guy who lost his last fight unless it's an immediate rematch. Such short term thinking. (Which, I know, has been a hallmark of PBC since its inception)

Mendoza fought and lost to Tszyu in between. But your overall question holds, of Fundora jumping over a guy who beat him.

Every fight is different due to styles.

Yeah for sure. Was just pointing out that Mendoza hadn’t been totally passed over.
