It was a big boxing Saturday with three notable cards but none bigger than the Gervonta Davis-Frank Martin pay-per-view. We discussed the card as well as the main event of the other two — Liam Paros’ big upset of Subriel Matias to win the IBF junior welterweight title and Chris Billam-Smith’s decision over Richard Riakporhe to retain the WBO cruiserweight title and avenge his only loss. There is also news of the week; a celebration of the great Roberto Duran on his birthday; and a look back on the anniversary of a huge fight that more than lived up to the billing.
Here is what’s on the show (in order):
Recap of WBA lightweight titlist Davis’ sensational knockout of Martin. We covered the fight in detail and discussed what might be next.
Recap of the full undercard, including David Benavidez’s rise to light heavyweight to handily outpoint Oleksandr Gvozdyk for an interim belt; Alberto Puello’s upset decision over Gary Antuanne Russell for an interim junior welterweight title; WBC middleweight titlist Carlos Adames’ rout Terrell Gausha; and Kyrone Davis’ big upset over middleweight up-and-comer Elijah Garcia.
Recap of Paro’s major upset over Subriel Matias in Matias’ hometown in Puerto Rico.
Recap of Billam-Smith’s decision over Riakporhe.

The WBA ordering undisputed junior featherweight champion Naoya Inoue to next face Murodjon Akhmadaliev, the organization’s mandatory challenger and former unified champion.
A celebration of the great Roberto Duran on his 73rd birthday.
Ringside memories on the 24th anniversary of the legit great first fight between Oscar De La Hoya and Shane Mosley, who won the WBC welterweight title in what I consider the first really big I covered in my first-ever trip to California.

Nothing against Subriel Matias. But the schadenfreude is strong, when another purported "Boxing Bogeyman" bites the dust.
To go in with the most fearsome puncher in the weight class in his home country paro showed guts and class to get the win
