LAS VEGAS — There was just one card on Saturday, but it was a huge PPV headlined by undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez defending the title against undefeated Mexican countryman Jaime Munguia on Cinco de Mayo weekend. We went over all aspects of the fight in detail as well as the undercard. There is also notable news of the week and the anniversaries of two important boxing events.
Here is what’s on the show (in order):
Recap of Canelo’s hard-fought but clear decision win over Munguia in a highly entertaining fight and what it means for the future of both fighters.
Recap of the undercard, including Mario Barrios’ decision over Fabian Maidana to retain the WBC interim welterweight title; Brandon Figueroa’s ninth-round knockout of Jessie Magdaleno to retain the WBC interim featherweight belt, and Eimantas Stanionis’ one-sided decision over Gabriel Maestre to retain the WBA “regular” welterweight title.
Discussion of my travel woes that have forced me to stay an extra day in Las Vegas (yeah, a first world problem, but still).
