There are many obstacles to overcome for Davis vs Garcia to be made. Haymon has refused to work with other promotional outfits and even if he suddenly had a change of heart to make this fight then would FOX/Showtime or DAZN, or both, show the fight?
Floyd Mayweather has already said the fight can happen but not at 140. Davis has already fought at 140 when he beat Barrios however the WBA "regular" title was on the line and Davis obviously thought this trinket was worth the risk - of course Garcia holds no title and so Davis/Floyd probably don't think the move to 140, simply to collect Garcia's 0, is worth the risk.
Maybe Garcia and Davis will be prepared to fight at a catchweight between 135 and 140 however that would still leave the "different sides of the street" obstacles.
My current view is that there are too many obstacles to overcome to make this fight - I obviously hope I'm wrong though.
As things stand it seems the public back-and-forth between Floyd and Tank is most likely to create extra media interest, and in turn extra fan interest, in whatever fight Tank is involved with.
I'm not sure who actually wins if Garcia and Tank actually meet, it's an intriguing match-up - I think it probably depends which weight they meet at.
If at 140 I tend to side with Garcia, while at 135 I think Tank has the advantage, but at a catchweight between 135 and 140 who knows? Got to admit I'm not confident in either of those calls at 135/140 though.
One problem with making the fight that I didn't previously mention is Tank's court case that's apparently set for September (see link below) - if he's found guilty of several of the many charges against him then he'll probably do time.
Solid points as always. I think Davis will walk Garcia onto something and gets the win if it does indeed go ahead. Lots of obstacles to overcome, as you say. Let's hope we get to see it!
You could be right - like you I hope it happens. Most boxing journalists seem to be sceptical but if both fighters actually want the fight then surely it can happen….. hopefully 😂.
It is true that G.Davis has taken the money road of least resistence in his Fighting Life but he shows natural power and overall is a better chance of making some history if he actually steps up the competition now like right now, just do it G. get out there and fight some real fights you have done the ground work for establishing a PPV future but time to do the work in the ring now against real threats. Garci is not a real threat unless G. were to take it lightly and fall short that way in the ring. Garci is about making money on his personallity outside the ring Davis is about knocking people out in a natural nasty sort of way big dif there. When the money is right they will do it that is the driver the money nothing more nothing less that is one thing both those guys have in common they both gravitate towards the money like steel to a magnet. It is the old build the fight up as much as you can then if you overshoot at least you did not have to pay for advertisment you got that from avoiding the fight on purpose.......

Good rationale. It's hard to keep up with who Davis is represented by.

Both Davis and Garcia are due proper fights, so hopefully this can be made before the year is through.

Can't see Garcia beating Tank.
