It was a light holiday weekend with the Matchroom Boxing card the only notable one of the weekend and we recapped the top two fights. There is also my interview with junior bantamweight champion Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez ahead of his upcoming unification fight and plenty of news of the week to discuss.
Here is what’s on the show (in order):
Recap of Jack Catterall’s move up to welterweight for a one-sided seventh-round technical decision over Harlem Eubank in a terrible fight that was short-circuited when both men were cut by bad accidental head butt in Manchester, England.
Recap of the co-feature in which former junior lightweight titlist Joe Cordina moved up to lightweight and notched a hard-fought but lopsided decision over Jaret Gonzalez Quiroz.
My interview with lineal/WBC junior bantamweight champion Rodriguez as he prepares to face WBO titlist Phumelele Cafu in a unification that will headline a Matchroom Boxing card on DAZN on July 19 in Frisco, Texas.
If you haven’t upgraded to a paid subscription take advantage of my limited time summer sale and get 10% off. You’ll have full access to the rest of this post and all posts, the full archive and comment posting ability — and you will support independent journalism.
Turki Alalshikh’s announcement that if Rodriguez defeats Cafu he will meet WBA titlist Fernando Martinez in a three-belt unification fight on the big Riyadh Season card planned for November.
The announcement of another fight for that Riyadh Season card, Abdullah Mason versus Sam Noakes for the vacant WBO lightweight title.
An update on the third fight between lineal/unified light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol and former champion Artur Beterbiev, who now appear headed to fight in their native Russia.
Announcement that former pound-for-pound king and four-division champion Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez will be back in action Sept. 12 in his hometown of Managua, Nicaragua, in preparation for what he hopes will be a world title fight at the end of the year.

Dumb ass and careless comment about the President cutting funds for weather alerts in Texas. Been a fan of the show for a very long time.
